Surfing has been blooming in the World for quite a few years. The Surfers worldwide was 21 million in 2001 and the number of aficionados keeps rising reaching 35 million in 2012 (60% increase in 11 years). In the last 25 years, the Surfing business achieved a double-digit growth. Surfing has become a popular activity because it is trendy, green, sexy, extreme and not expensive.That is why Surf-me.com was created on 15th December 2013, as the first social network dedicated to surfers.The Surf community has its own identity and wants to distinguished itself from other social networks, often too mainstream. Surf-me.com is different from Facebook as it shows its own identity, it is a public platform. Users, after setting up their profile, can publish, follow and comment on pictures of waves, spots, and people completely unknown to them. It is not a place where users share their private life but a place where a same community shares a same passion: the waves, the surf and the ocean.
